Distrofia corneal
Grupo de afecciones hereditarias que afectan a una o varias capas de la córnea, entre ellas la distrofia endotelial de Fuchs (con frecuencia asociada a una expansión de repeticiones en TCF4), las distrofias granular y reticular relacionadas con TGFBI, y tipos más raros causados por genes como SLC4A11, COL8A2, ZEB1 y CHST6.
Qué cambia un diagnóstico
Por lo general, se recomienda a los portadores de variantes en TGFBI que eviten la cirugía refractiva láser (LASIK o PRK), ya que puede empeorar los depósitos; el trasplante de córnea puede restaurar la visión en la enfermedad avanzada.
