Hornhautdystrophie
Eine Gruppe erblicher Erkrankungen, die eine oder mehrere Schichten der Hornhaut betreffen, darunter die Fuchs-Endotheldystrophie (häufig mit einer TCF4-Repeat-Expansion verbunden), die TGFBI-bedingten granulären und retikulären Dystrophien sowie seltenere Formen, die durch Gene wie SLC4A11, COL8A2, ZEB1 und CHST6 verursacht werden.
Was sich durch eine Diagnose ändert
Träger von TGFBI-Varianten wird im Allgemeinen geraten, laserchirurgische Korrekturverfahren der Fehlsichtigkeit (LASIK oder PRK) zu vermeiden, da diese die Ablagerungen verschlimmern können. Bei fortgeschrittener Erkrankung kann eine Hornhauttransplantation das Sehvermögen wiederherstellen.
