Distrofia da Córnea
Grupo de doenças hereditárias que afetam uma ou mais camadas da córnea, incluindo a distrofia endotelial de Fuchs (frequentemente associada a uma expansão de repetições no gene TCF4), as distrofias granulares e reticulares relacionadas com o gene TGFBI, e tipos mais raros causados por genes como SLC4A11, COL8A2, ZEB1 e CHST6.
O que muda com um diagnóstico
Os portadores de variantes do gene TGFBI são geralmente aconselhados a evitar a cirurgia refrativa a laser (LASIK ou PRK), que pode agravar os depósitos; o transplante de córnea pode restaurar a visão em casos avançados da doença.
