Distrofia corneale
Un gruppo di condizioni ereditarie che interessano uno o più strati della cornea, tra cui la distrofia endoteliale di Fuchs (spesso associata a un'espansione di ripetizioni in TCF4), le distrofie granulari e reticolari correlate a TGFBI e tipi più rari causati da geni come SLC4A11, COL8A2, ZEB1 e CHST6.
Cosa cambia con una diagnosi
Alle persone portatrici di varianti in TGFBI si consiglia generalmente di evitare la chirurgia refrattiva laser (LASIK o PRK), che può peggiorare i depositi; il trapianto di cornea può ripristinare la vista nella malattia avanzata.
