Trait
Willis-Ekbom disease
Clinical name: Restless legs
An irresistible urge to move the legs, usually accompanied by unpleasant sensations deep within the limbs. Symptoms typically begin or worsen during periods of rest or inactivity, are most pronounced in the evening or at night, and are temporarily relieved by movement such as walking or stretching. The disturbance often interferes with the initiation or maintenance of sleep.

Changes in these genes cause rare conditions in which Willis-Ekbom disease is seen. Most people with this trait have none of those conditions, and a gene on this list says nothing about anyone's own genome.

How often is among people with one of the gene's conditions, the most often across them, as the Human Phenotype Ontology records it. These pages describe traits and the research behind them; they are not a diagnosis, and a doctor or genetic counsellor is the person to ask about symptoms.
