Trait
Mental slowness
Clinical name: Abnormally slow thought process
An inner sense from the self that thoughts are abnormally slow and the individual feels that they are unable to increase their rate of thinking. The primary pathology is the decreased rate and other qualities of thinking (e.g. naming of objects) are intact, just slowed. This may be associated with slowed speech, but may be internal and masked by speech that is limited to brief (yes or no) answers.

Get my Genome Test7 genes linked to Mental slowness
Changes in these genes cause rare conditions in which Mental slowness is seen. Most people with this trait have none of those conditions, and a gene on this list says nothing about anyone's own genome.
| Gene | How often it is seen | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| DMPKDM1 protein kinase | Very often (80–99%) | In 1 condition |
| HTThuntingtin | Often (30–79%) | In 1 condition |
| PRNPprion protein (Kanno blood group) | Often (30–79%) | In 1 condition |
| SLC2A3solute carrier family 2 member 3 | Often (30–79%) | In 1 condition |
| CLTCclathrin heavy chain | Sometimes (5–29%) | In 1 condition |
| NOTCH3notch receptor 3 | Sometimes (5–29%) | In 1 condition |
| VPS13Avacuolar protein sorting 13 homolog A | Sometimes (5–29%) | In 1 condition |
How often is among people with one of the gene's conditions, the most often across them, as the Human Phenotype Ontology records it. These pages describe traits and the research behind them; they are not a diagnosis, and a doctor or genetic counsellor is the person to ask about symptoms.
