Trait
Angioid streaks
Irregular lines in the outer retina and Bruch membrane that are typically configured in a radiating fashion and emanate from the optic disc. Angioid streaks are crack-like dehiscences in abnormally thickened and calcified Bruch membrane, resulting in atrophy of the overlying retinal pigment epithelium. They may be associated with a number of endocrine, metabolic, and connective tissue abnormalities but can be idiopathic. They can be associated with neovascular complexes (choroid).

Dante Labs condition reports look at the genes behind groups of inherited conditions, read from one whole-genome test. Each page says which conditions and genes a report covers, how it is read and what it cannot tell you.

Get my Genome Test10 genes linked to Angioid streaks
Changes in these genes cause rare conditions in which Angioid streaks is seen. Most people with this trait have none of those conditions, and a gene on this list says nothing about anyone's own genome.
| Gene | How often it is seen | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| ABCC6ATP binding cassette subfamily C member 6 | Very often (80–99%) | In 4 conditions |
| ENPP1ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1 | Very often (80–99%) | In 2 conditions |
| XYLT1xylosyltransferase 1 | Very often (80–99%) | In 1 condition |
| XYLT2xylosyltransferase 2 | Very often (80–99%) | In 1 condition |
| GGCXgamma-glutamyl carboxylase | Often (30–79%) | In 3 conditions |
| VKORC1vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit 1 | Sometimes (5–29%) | In 1 condition |
| GALNT3polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 3 | Not recorded | In 1 condition |
| PIK3CAphosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit alpha | Not recorded | In 1 condition |
| PTENphosphatase and tensin homolog | Not recorded | In 1 condition |
| TNFRSF11BTNF receptor superfamily member 11b | Not recorded | In 1 condition |
How often is among people with one of the gene's conditions, the most often across them, as the Human Phenotype Ontology records it. These pages describe traits and the research behind them; they are not a diagnosis, and a doctor or genetic counsellor is the person to ask about symptoms.
