The Skeleton in the Closet: Faults and Strengths of Public Versus Private Genetic Biobanks
This article examined the ethical debate around direct-to-consumer genetic testing and compared public and private genetic biobanks. It found that transparency and trust are the most relevant ethical factors, and that dialogue between the public sector, private sector and citizens is essential to balance consumer markets with public biobanking.

Dante Labs’ involvement
This paper discusses Dante Labs as an example of a private genetic biobank based in Italy, alongside 23andMe, Ancestry and MyHeritage. It refers to the company's genome sequencing services and pricing (from USD 323.54 for the Premium Test and from USD 918.69 for the Super Premium Test), notes that its reports include pharmacogenetics results framed as high, medium or low sensitivity risk, and describes its website as providing information on privacy, consent, and the use of data and biological samples, calling it a service of undoubtable quality. Dante Labs did not carry out sequencing or any other work for this study, and the paper's text does not describe any contribution by Dante Labs to it.
