Hypothyroidism report is used to identify genetic variants associated with hypothyroidism, a condition characterized by an underactive thyroid gland that produces insufficient amounts of thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism can be caused by a variety of factors, including autoimmune disease, radiation therapy, and genetic mutations. This report tests for genetic variants associated with congenital hypothyroidism, a rare form of the condition that is present at birth, as well as variants that can increase the risk of developing hypothyroidism later in life.
